Why not keep a diet journal?
When you decide to lose weight, you need to make
changes which will affect your entire lifestyle. A good way to
keep track of changes, little details, and the progress you're
making is to keep some sort of a diet journal. A journal
becomes a permanent record of your achievement, and can be a great
inspiration on days when you need some extra motivation.
There are many things you can record in a
journal. You can record the foods you eat, you can record
exercise routines and duration, and you can certainly keep track of
weight loss. Any or all of these things are appropriate for
your journal. Your journal doesn't have to be in traditional
book form, either. Your journal can be a diary, but it can
also be in the form of a scrapbook, a photo album, an audio
recording, a video recording, or you can use one of the many online
journals available.
Even though your journal is based on your
weight-loss goals, you can put anything you'd like into it.
It's your project and many aspects of day-to-day life will affect
your progress. If the annoying bank teller made you want to
eat a bag of Chips Ahoy, feel free to make this information part of
your journal! You can also talk about things like your
ultimate weight loss goals, your ultimate fitness goals, milestones
you've reached, and people who inspire you. Also consider
including clippings of articles which are relevant to your goals,
including interviews and recipes. Did you discuss something
with your doctor which relates to your health? Record that too
in case it becomes important down the road.
A scrapbook can be a great way to keep a weight loss journal. You
can not only keep notes in your scrapbook, but photographs and small
objects as well. Maybe you want to save the label from your
favourite diet snack, for example.
Whatever you put in your diet journal, be sure to
start it off positively with a realistic goal. When in doubt,
read back over your initial entries and you'll find that enthusiasm
is infectious! |
